Details:
This was the first sign that an impact had hit earth . This image was taken at 21.19 pm on the 9.1.2014 with very weak aurora displays and images all night after this time, until 4.30am when we returned home. The interplanetary field was certainly doing its job last night as the bz numbers where all border line north and hardly any aurora was getting through into earth, although very weak displays where visible all night. It was not the cme we where all expecting. But Elizabeth from Australia was delighted as this was her first aurora, and you can guarantee it wont be her last, a wonderful very short show, but I'm sure there's plenty more in the days to come,as old 1944 is not done yet, tomorrow's an other day.
