Details:
Although slowly fading, comet Lovejoy continues to put on a show in the pre-dawn sky. At my latitude, it is fairly high in the eastern sky before dawn - a great target for binoculars and telescopes. If you received one of these items as a Christmas gift, point it in the direction of comet Lovejoy; you will not be disappointed. I braved the cold temps along with some high clouds and frost to capture this image of the comet. It may not be the "Comet of the Century", but it is certainly worth the look as it sports a bright coma and noticeable tail. Imaged with Canon 60Da through a guided 60mm APO refractor @ f/6. Composite of 30 images stacked in DSS (15 minute exposure). 30 x 25 seconds, ISO 1000 and 1600.
