Details:
This has been my discovery the other day: 10th Magnitude stars with 2 seconds exposure and a 300mm lens. With 2 seconds @ 300mm you get dots and not lines, without tracking mount. Most of the stars in the photo are 10th Mag, many even more. Two or them are circled in red. As a reference, the one circled in green is Mag 8.2 (Stellarium data). This is a single frame with 2sec exposure, unprocessed but with automatic correction of Microsoft Picture Manager and reduced to fit spaceweather requirements. I know now what I can expect to shoot. Canon 600D, Canon 70-300 zoom @300, 6400 ISO, 2sec, f 5.6, manual focus. Taken before dawn on Oct 18 2013
