Details:
It was a delightful observation. A very rare opportunity to see a Mercury occultation at night time. I was very close to the northern line of the occultation path, south of Sallisaw in Oklahoma. The planet was occulted for just 3 minutes. The first photo in this collage was taken about 50 minutes after sunset, when Mercury begins to be occulted. Twilight is evident, but the pair was perfectly visible to the naked eye.The second photo was taken after the reappearance of the planet, a few minutes before the end of astronomical twilight, when the pair was only one degree above the western horizon.
