Details:
Inspired by the recent article on spaceweather.com, I went out and tried a little imaging of Comet 29P/Schwassmann-Wachmann to see if I could capture the same spiral structure. Sure enough, there it was! The snail-shell appearance was detectable in a single 3-minute sub, as was the slightly brighter hazy patch to the upper right of the nucleus. More coma? Part of the outburst? Hint of the dust tail? This image is a crop from the original images processed to stack on the comet. 40 x 180sec, taken with a 12" RC and an ASI2600MC cameraon a Paramount MX.
