Details:
Receiving news northern US states had a chance of seeing Aurora, I tried some photos through the evening from our Blue Ridge Mountain home. Around 10:42PM I caught a bit of red Aurora peeking over a weirdly lit cloud looking toward Beartown Mountain Virginia 53 miles away. On the right are Snake Mountain and Elk Knob north of Boone, NC. Behind Snake Mountain, Mount Rogers, the highest mountain in Virginia is visible. A Nikon Z6 set at 13 second exposures, ISO 1600 with a 14-30mm f4 was used.
