Details:
The first appearance was at 19:30UT, a low diffuse arc almost lost in the usual light pollution but which was distinctly green on the camera phone. 30 minutes later this had faded away, then at 20:30UT the diffuse green arc had returned (second photo), higher and brighter with purple above. Then at 20:50UT the red glow intensified and became curtains and pillars of light, a beautiful deep cherry red to the unaided eye, moving and changing over a timescale of tens of seconds (first, third and fourth photos). The intense display lasted about ten minutes before settling down into an arc of more subtle red curtains over green. A completely extraordinary sight from light polluted suburban London. iPhone 13 camera with automatic 3 second exposure.
