Details:
A significant Coronal Mass Ejection towards the Earth which culminated in this display of the Aurora Australis overlooking Mundaring Weir in the Perth Hills. The Aurora came into view almost five months to the hour since I last had the pleasure of viewing the Aurora Australis back in May at Yenyenning Lakes. Being close to Perth generally isn’t conducive to naked eye displays of the Aurora due to its location away from high latitudes where they are more readily visible, but also due to severe light pollution that a capital city emanates into the night sky. The light pollution is such that the foreground is totally illuminated by Perths light pollution. Nice to have access to such a massive diffuse light source but I’d rather the dark skies that were available in the area not all that long ago.
