Details:
Comet 13P/Olbers was only 50' (0.83 degrees) from the background Black Eye Galaxy M64 on the evening of 2024 August 24 MST. The comet was magnitude 8.0 on this evening and M64 is magnitude 9.3. Due to the comets movement across our skies (2.4' per hour) only 180 seconds (18x10s) of images could be averaged to make this image before either the stars and galaxy would show as trails or the comet would show as a trail with the equipment used to collect the images and the resulting field of view of the equipment.
