More images from Sunday night 240811 G2 portion of big storm as if the site needs more images. Subsided in Virginia about midnight EDT so packed up and drove to hotel 20 miles from photo site. While reviewing photos around 2A, Spaceweatherlive app starts dinging: the Bz is plummeting south again. Should have driven back, but didn’t want to blow the big bucks already spent on hotel room. Bad move but there’s always next time.
Camera on maiden voyage, Canon R5 paired with an EF 24-70 2.8 shot wide open. New to camera so experimented with settings. Images ranged from iso 1000 to 1600, exposures from 8 to 25 secs. Lesson learned: Know your equipment before hand so precious moments aren’t wasted learning on the fly.
Did catch a little Perseid on one of the shots. Zoom in for closer inspection.
