Details:
On May 8, 2024, it was raining in the morning then cloudy for much of the afternoon. But it cleared up by late afternoon just before the evening hours when the sun got lower in the west. Luckily, I was able to do a quick solar observing and imaging. Unfortunately, the seeing was so bad that I was deciding not to post the images. I did it anyway when a class M9 flare erupted in AR #12664!
AR #13664 is so huge that it is visible naked-eye with the eclipse glasses. At 21:17 UT, the plages around the region was very bright. The seeing was poor and I was just about to give up. But I knew that something was coming. Suddenly at 21:20 UT, the flare erupted into a class M9 flare! It was very impressive! Then during imaging at 21:26 UT, the flare was so bright that it saturated the pixels! These are the best shots I can do under the poor seeing condition. Still, the flare was clearly seen. After 21:47 UT, the flare settled down.
Also, there is a nice size prominence along the SW limb.
