Details:
On the evening of 18 November at around 06:15 UT in a north-westerly direction for about ten minutes a bright, white halo appeared over the North Italian skies.
As can be seen from this sequence of shots, the halo gradually widened and decreased in brightness until it dissolved completely.
To the naked eye the brightest part appeared circular and surrounded by a halo. As the minutes passed, it widened and for a few moments even seemed to take on a square shape. The brightness was not uniform but at times seemed to glimpse darker areas, giving a vision reminiscent of a Full Moon - and its Maria - hidden by an intense cloud cover.
To the naked eye, the bright area appeared not to move with respect to the stars; from the photos, however, one can see how the central point of the luminous halo moved with respect to the stars. The bright one closest to the bright zone is Kornephoros, Beta Herculis.
I hoped it was a particular atmospheric phenomenon, but from what I read on the net and the time of the phenomenon, it seems that it was exhaust gas produced by the French ballistic test M51.3
I took these snap with a Huawei p30 pro from Rome, ISO1600 4s.
