Details:
Mercury was visible this Christmas evening just 2d above the partly cloudy colorful Sunset in the Western sky. Much brighter Venus was above at 9.5d altitude. Mercury is rising higher each night now and will pass by Venus on 12/29-30 making the pair easier to spot in the Sunset sky. Taken with Sony A7s3, 200mm f/4, iso 400, 1s exp. , full fov and cropped closeup of just Mercury. The SkyXPro chart shows the wider fov with the 4 visible planets (Mercury,Venus, Saturn and Jupiter) that are now in the evening sky. Comet C/2021 A1 Leonard also visible with nearly 6d of tail showing disconnection events in the tail structure even in the hazy skies.
