Twice in my lifetime have a seen a flare this intense. I hoped it would also be seen visually, but not quite! AR 2826 was my intended target, as it rolls over the NW limb..hoped it would show proms. But attention riveted on the long S shaped flare from AR 2824 east of it. Hope folks out west can follow it...Sun is setting here for me. Always tomorrow! Lunt 60, B 1200 Ha diagonal, 12mm Plossl, iPhone 6s.
First shot to full Sun in Ha. Second shot taken at 2 PM shows activity around both spots when zoomed in, but no flare at 2 PM CDT.
Third shot shows S shaped flare at 6:18PM; what a differnce 4 hours made!
Last shot shows visible sun at 6:25 PM CDT..no flare here. This taken with SkyWatcher Mak 102, 4" Baader ND 5 solar filter, .5X telecompressor to get whole disk, 12mm Plossl, orange filter
