With the comet slightly fainter than M31 (Andromeda Galaxy) as viewed naked eye while nearly overhead (after moonset), and the fact that 46p is moving extremely quickly, taking an image with it fixed against the stars renders the best depiction.
As can be gleamed, 46p is showing signs of a fan shaped tail within the large bright coma (8:30 to 6:30 position). If an anti-tail did occur as the comet crosses the earth's orbital plain this night, it was not recorded in this short 40s exposure.
Moonlight will interfere from this time on has the comet reaches its highest point on the median. This photo challenging period will extend until 23 December, a few days after full moon.
