In this Gif and image Comet C/2018 V1 Machholz-Fujikawa-Iwamoto is about magnitude 8 and 84 million miles from Earth. It has a long thin Ion Tail above the coma and slightly to the left and a very short wide Dust Tail above the coma and slightly to the right. The comet will reach perihelion on December 3 when it will be only 36 million miles from the Sun, it should reach magnitude 5 at this time but will not be visible from the Earth. The comet makes its close approach to Earth on November 27 when it will be 62 million miles from the Earth. As usual, to get the best resolution select the large image.
