Details:
This is my personal favorite picture , from October 6th 2017 as the squall line was grinding up around Canton Lake, Oklahoma.
This red sprite was captured from Edmond, Oklahoma. The storm was about 85 linear miles away , so just imagine the size of this structure above it. I have a video compilation of about a half dozen events I caught this night and others just like it from previous evenings in Fall 2017
To me they are just so awesome in their magnificent color, structure and science. There's ongoing research into their attachment to earthquake prediction possibilities amongst other things.
Please share and go to my photo page on Facebook, Dramatic sky photography by Paul Smith for updated videos and stills.
