Details:
This photo was taken when Tropical Storm Harvey was just south of Puerto Rico on Aug 19 2017. My watec camera was capturing B&W footage of the events while my DSLR was set to continuous shooting mode to capture them in color. I managed to capture quite a few Gigantic Jets that evening but mostly just the top portions of them. Finally, during the last GJ event that evening, my DSLR captured the bottom portion in color. It turns out that my DSLR's shutter opened just when the GJ was decaying so I missed the best part of the event by just milliseconds. Hopefully someday researchers can find this photo useful in determining the make-up of these amazing events. The GIF posted here is the watec footage of the GJ that created this decaying upward channel.
