Details:
St. Margaret’s Abbey is situated near Beaune in Burgundy, France. It was built at the end of the 11th century by monks of the order of St. Augustine. The abbey was thriving till the end of the 16th century but went into decline afterwards, counting only one priest by the end of the 17th century. The monastery was dissolved during the French Revolution and sold as national property. The current owner has launched an ambitious restoration programme in order to welcome visitors to the abbey.
