Today Mars is at a distance of 75.3 million kilometers and reaches its highest point around midnight local time (33 degrees from Malta). https://canopus123.files.wordpress.com/2016/05/16-05-30-2154_1-ap-ir.jpg I am annotating a blown-up version of the IR filtered image with a few interesting surface features.
