Details:
The sun's maximum altitude in southern Maine as we approach the winter solstice was 22.8 degrees above the horizon today (11 AM to 4 PM). Glitter trails can be seen on Sebago Lake. The ancient Romans celebrated the sun appearing higher in the sky on Dec. 25; sol invictus.
