Details:
During the night of August 10th to 11th, I was trying to catch a few Perseids meteors -in front- of the Milky Way.
I was in the countryside, about 60 km South of Paris, France and its light pollution.
I knew that it was my -last chance- to catch Perseid meteors because bad weather was predicted for August 12th-13th...
I saw just a few meteors and none was caught on my camera. I did not noticed anything else with my naked eyes but...the following morning, looking at my pictures on the small screen of my -cheap- (~ 400 $/€) camera, the REALLY GOOD surprise was to discover -brown rays- on several pictures, in the West of my position.
Could it be Auroras, so far South (48,25° North)???.
I rushed to the next -free Wifi station- (I do not have internet connection there...) to watch the SpaceWeather website...and YES! I got confirmation that the solar wind was creating Auroras around the globe.
WOW ! This is my first Aurora pictures !! Of course, it is nothing compared to high latitude pictures, but it is so far South !
I made a -Gif- of the 6 better pictures ( with light treatment to enhanced the contrast).
Bonus : I was happy to see the International Space Station (a.k.a the -space salad farm-) too !
Pictures : 1 mn, f 2.8, 800 iso + treatment
