Thunderstorms, Perseid meteors, and auroras, oh my! All three of these things were happening at once, and it was an amazing sight to get them all in the same frame. I had been hoping for some time to get auroras and thunderstorms in the same shot, but I was really lucky this happened during the peak night of the Perseids, too. I had to drive to a spot in-between clusters of thunderstorms where the clouds were clearing, revealing the auroras on the horizon. Then, about when an auroral substorm erupted, a long-lasting fireball appeared. Lucky August 13! The storm happened to flash a bit brighter during the long fireball, so it blew out that portion of the frame. I suppose I could easily do a merge with the previous frame.

Also watch for sprites! It could be terrific: meteors, sprites, aurorae and thunderstorms in the same frame...
