Details:
A late afternoon cumulonimbus cloud developed into a small evening thunderstorm with frequent flashes of lightning. The photograph shows a cloud to ground strike with side flash to clear air below Venus and what looks like a sprite rising vertically upwards. It is frame capture from a wide angle video taken with a Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ 10 camera with auto exposure.

Its a great picture indeed. But did you also see the sprite-like effect visually? I guess that it might be a ghost image of bright lightning-flash below in the lens of the camera. Sprites are very faint and only occur in high atmospheric regions just above the thunderstorm, while in the picture the effect seems to be in front of the clouds in the top.
