Details:
I went out at 10:30 to watch for auroras. I waited and waited, but they were not strong enough to show up in Central Illinois. Finally just after 1:30 am, green and red pillars became visible. The brightest part happened around 2:30. Bright moonlight drowned out some of the detail, but it also helped light up the landscape.
