Details:
Here is my 500mm shot of Comet LoveJoy R1 from Saturday morning at JBSPO in Yellow Springs, Ohio. The Comet was 2.5 degrees South East of 3rd magnitude Star 65 Delta Herculis....Easily visible in Binoculars, looks awesome through any telescope, even telephotos lens capture it well,...but it is very low on the horizon and you only have about an 1 hour of viewing before the light of Dawn sets in!!!!
Comet Lovejoy 2013 R1 tail is about 2.5 degrees long, well off the field in this image. The comet is hovering around 5.5 magnitude.
This is 7 x 2 minutes = 14 minute total exposure with a Modified (Baader) Canon Rebel XSI & 80mm F6.3, 500mm FL @ ISO 800.
