Photos I captured during the solar eclipse on August 12 from the coast in Wenduine (Haerendijcke), Belgium, where we enjoyed perfectly clear skies.I am not a professional photographer, but I wanted to experiment by holding the filter of a solar eclipse pair of glasses directly against my smartphone lens. To prevent the sun from overexposing, I frequently used the manual exposure and focus lock (AE/AF lock) on my phone.On the second photo, a striking, sharp glowing loop is visible. This turned out to be a crisp internal reflection (a ghosting flare), caused by the bright light of the solar crescent bouncing between the camera lens elements and the eclipse filter. The pink-red hue in the background was created by the phone sensor's automatic white balance reacting to the low sun.I found the artistic result very original and thought it would be a fun and unique addition to your eclipse gallery or archives.
