Details:
During the total lunar eclipse of September 7, 2025, a thin turquoise band is visible just inside Earth’s umbra — produced by sunlight refracted through the upper atmosphere and filtered by ozone (Chappuis bands). The reddish umbra results from Rayleigh scattering.
HDR composite of 5 exposures (0.5s, 1/13s, 1/80s, 1/500s, 1/3200s; all ISO 200) using a Canon 6D (unmodified) on a 10-inch SkyWatcher Dobsonian GoTo. Captured from Damavand, Iran, as the Moon was emerging from totality (~22:25 IRST; altitude ~40°).
