Details:

Named in honor of the Norwegian author Sigrid Undset (1882-1949) who received the Nobel prize for literature in 1928. She is best known for her trilogy Kristin Lavransdatter about a couple's love and life in Norway in the thirteenth century. [Ref: Minor Planet Circ. 46682]

It was discovered at La Silla on 1979-08-22 by C.-I. Lagerkvist.
