Details:
Between 5.46 on 5.58 pm on 19th August, the first of four Supermoons in a row in 2024 was observed rising above a ridge in Cecil Kop Nature Reserve from a viewpoint at the eastern end of Murambi Heights. As the moonrise coincided with another volcanic sunset both Moon and sky were tinted orange by reflected light from a bright twilight arch on the opposite horizon. A series of close-up still images and a short real-time video clip were obtained of the beautiful Supermoon appearing and rising above some trees on a hill crest. The final photograph is an enlargement of the Supermoon in full glory in clear dark sky. Camera: Tripod-mounted Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS40 in sunset mode.
