Details:
After some years in recovery, I have been infected by the M42 bug again - - -! Taking advantage of some gaps in the clouds, last night I had another go at imaging the nebula. This time it was favourably located from the window and I managed 100X 6 second subs for the primary image. As is usual when imaging M42 this is a composite exposure in order to retain some detail in the bright central parts. Comparing it to my previous efforts from some years ago with the same kit i think it is slightly better, but I suspect I am approaching the best I can do from indoors! Since I am slightly colour blind, especially in the reds, I often prefer monochromatic images, so I have also uploaded a de-saturated image.
