Details:
While experimenting with processing a wide field image of Deneb and NGC 7000/North America Nebula, I was about to crop a bit out of my corners when I noticed a strange comet-turquoise color in the upper left corner. At first I thought I some really bad color blotching had occurred. But looking closer, it sure appeared to be a comet's coma. For a half second, the thought occurred — ooo have I just discovered a comet? But then, no way something that 'obvious' wouldn't already be picked up. I checked Aerith.net and Starry Night Pro and saw that I had accidentally snagged C/2023 E1 (ATLAS) in that far corner. Canon R5 + EF24-105 f/4 IS USM @ 102mm. 8 x 30 sec, ISO 6400, f/4.0. Sky tracking with iOptron SkyGuider Pro.
