Details:
A rather surreal view of the Total Lunar Eclipse on the 26th May (local time) 2021. The bright red flare is the result of using an camera with a modified sensor that is prone to producing flares with bright light sources and is particularly sensitive to anything within the red and infrared spectrum. There was just a tiny hint of light on the crest of the moon yet it blew out the entire area with a crimson hued flare. The details in the Milky Way ONLY became visible for a brief moment during the totality of the eclipse. Some pictures of the gear + setup have also been added.
I planned to take this image over a year ago, calculating that the moon would be nestled between the brightly colored stars within the Ophiuchus complex in the Milky Way.

Initially feeling it looked too much like a composite, I tried to digitally removed the flare - but it looked more artificial than leaving it in the shot. No tracking or stacking but I did have to tweak the colors, hue, contrast, levels and saturation to resolve this image using Lightroom and Photoshop.
