Details:
With the sky still blue, I noticed a glow to the north and took test photos. Horizontal lines caught my attention. I thought perhaps a spreading contrail with similar but smaller structures was blocking light from a featureless green glow. But the contrails are clearly moving south with a long lasting high pressure system, while the auroral ripples are going slowly west. This photo is a 1/2 second exposure with 35mm lens, full frame, at 9:50 pm PT. My camera timestamps are accurate -/+ one second for this, in case anyone else caught them. They were likely above the northern Rockies or Peace River or further north, and lasted from dusk, 9:38pm to around 10:03 pm Pacific time.
