Details:
In response to the mention of rare red auroras here is one from about today's date but in 2015.The colours in this picture have not been edited at all. Exposure 4 secs, f/2, ISO 6400. Canon 5D Mk2 with f/1.4 lens.This particular display of red lasted over half an hour.More red auroras were seen a couple of nights later. From a sequence of frames I was able to create a movie showing the ripples moving like a huge net curtain.
