Details:
Skies were very clear and accommodating for viewing the Perseids this year despite the waning crescent moon. Not only did the weather cooperate, but so did Mother Nature in knocking out power to most of east central Iowa. By Tuesday evening some power had been restored, but the skies were "darker" than usual. I was able to see a number of meteors, both bright and faint until the moon climbed higher into the eastern sky. For the most part this year's meteor shower did not disappoint.
