Details:
We don't get ice halos often in Colorado Springs, but this was spectacular. The pictures were taken around 11:30 AM MDT; the sun was at least 60 degrees above the horizon and well above the "rainbow." I thought it might be a 45 degree halo, but it had no curvature; it was completely parallel to the horizon. It wasn't iridescent clouds, as it exhibited a full ROYGBIV spectrum. I'm sure I have seenan explanation from Mr. Cowley, but can't remember it.
My phone camera really did not capture the intensity of the colors, and I did not try to do any digital enhancement.
