There was a very nice large arching prominence on the southwest quadrant of the Sun today.
This image is derived from a stack of 10% of the best frames from an AVI video that was captured in the early afternoon just before the Sun ducked behind some bushes that obscured the view making additional imaging impossible. As a result, I was unable to capture surface images to merge with the prominence.
Although the Sun is in the solar minimum, active prominences appear from time to time along its rim.
Images were captured with a 50mm Solarscope single Etalon H-alpha filter attached to the front of an 80mm ED refractor.
Images were processed in AutoStakkert and Registrax 6 with a final polish in Photoshop CS. Color was added in Photoshop.
