Details:
On 14 November the drought which has affected Mutare for the past few months broke in spectacular fashion with a violent thunderstorm and 90 millimeters of rain. During the previous two days increasing moisture and thin veils of cloud in the upper atmosphere had produced halos around both the waxing Super Moon and the Sun when they were not obscured by lower cloud. The first two pictures show the almost full Super Moon just after dark on the 12 November with and without a close cloud halo. The second two pictures taken mid-morning on the 14 November are full and partial views of a beautiful almost circular Sun Halo which persisted for almost an hour. The photographs were taken with a Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ60 camera using night scenery and intelligent auto settings.
