I've been dreaming of watching and photographing the northern lights from an airplane for a long time. Last night 21.9.16 we flew back to Finland from Iceland and we knew that there's a big chance of seeing them from the plane as a G1-class storm was predicted. At 1 am the plane departed and after we got above the clouds i saw them. I rushed to get my camera and started shooting. It was really difficult to get the picture sharp, because i had a 1 second exposure and the plane was flying at 900km/h and it was very shaky. But i managed to get few shots that were " sharp enough" and this made me very happy! It's a dream come true! Now i only have to see them from space ;)
