Details:
Ever since I was little and became interested in space, I always wanted to take a picture of the milky way. I'd see these spectacular images of the milky way above snow capped mountain peaks or a desert scene and I was obsessed with wanting to do the same. I never had a camera capable of capturing the milky way until I bought a Nikon D3300 this past May. It might not be crystal clear, it might be a little noisy but to me it's awesome. I'm fortunate enough to live in an area of Virginia where you can just barely see the brightest part of the milky way with your naked eyes. Light pollution and Spring/Summer haze drowns out over 70% of it. I pointed the camera south just after 1am, opened the shutter for about 25 seconds with an ISO of 6400. When I looked at what I had captured I was beyond excited. From the images I have seen that other people have taken of the milky way with the same camera, I didn't expect too much. But when I saw what I was able to capture I was more than happy with it. This is a single image and edited sightly to bring it out a little bit more.
