Details:
This was the view Monday night into Tuesday morning (May 16-17) less than a week before opposition, as Mars shone above the hoodoos and badlands of Dinosaur Provincial Park in Alberta Canada. Saturn shines to the left of Mars, with Antares in Scorpius below the pair of planets. Light from the waxing gibbous Moon provided the illumination. From this latitude of 50° N, Mars shines low in the south but is still unmistakable as the "red planet."
