Details:
On 29 August, a thick layer of smoke haze close to the horizon at sunset made both the setting Sun and rising Super Moon appear bright red. The first two illustrations derived from photographs taken at the same x60 zoom magnification show that the Sun at 17.28 LT a few minutes before sunset was similar in colour to the rising Super Moon at 18.09 LT about half an hour later. They also enable a comparison of their apparent sizes to be made. The last two images show the position of both with respect to the horizon at about the same times. All were taken with a Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ60 compact camera in Sunset auto exposure mode.
