. Last Night was unusual and special in the respect of getting Auroras so bright with the moon that my friend could easily see them driving with his brights on. And the elevation above the horizon was remarkable for this latitude. Granted we had a G2 and Bz south for half a day, the data did not really suggest this degree of substorm. However looking at Kyoto AE index showed quite the deviation therefore the energy really snapped. From Experience these are G3 Auroras at my latitude Perhaps locally the Kp was briefly 7 (for the duration of the substorm) the second substorm around 2am was much weaker! The arcs and bands were almost this bright (more grey/blue due to moon.. and of course the Camera was best at distinguishing the red/purple especially with moon light!
