Nice image Bernard. Did you see my followup on our discussion of yesterday ? Would you agree with the numbers ?

Thanks Bill, yes I saw it. Difficult to give an opinion: refractors versus reflectors...
But you can use an Herschel wedge with a SCT provided that you have dealumined the mirror ! I made it with a LX200GPS-14 inches. I added 2 fans (one pushing and one pulling the air) controlled to refresh the inside of the beast when the temperature of a probe behind the primary mirror is 2°C higher than the one of the probe which measures the outdoor temperature, and it works (I just have an issue with the corrector plate which induces astigmatism. Ill try to manage with that later on...)
Of course, this is a dedicated solar telescope ! Some great guys in here have made the same with Newtonians (Truss tubes) of 210 and 300 mm. Their images are of superior quality (of course they are not newbies;-)
For refractors, the issue with big lenses and native high f/d (say 15) is the lenght of the tube which can only settle in an observatory (with a long pier)...or in a truck :-) Thats why I choosed a f/8 which I can load in my car. And we can find on the market good Barlows now.
Hope this helps.

Cheers,
Bernard.
