I was taking Sunset picture 07/22/15 at Wachusett Dam Clinton MA. I have a 65X zoom Canon SX60 and the people I was with noticed the clouds broke and you could see the moon so I took one picture and noticed something in it.

That was an airplane in front of the Moon.
You can follow back its trail.
But anyway: nice soot!

I see the contrail extending back to the darkness but when you zoom in there is nothing there as seen in the close up.
Why is that? It looks like a meteor. Maybe NASA can look at this I see many of contrails I like the Long zoom. Note the cameras time is 1 hr and 3 minute behind I never set it for day light savings.

As Nagy said, that looks like a typical airplane passing in front of the Moon.
Of course, the contrail itself is invisible because it was not lit right after the airplane.
But, the hot turbulence of contrail in front of the Moon scattered the image of the Moon due to mirage by its heat. Through the contrail, the edge of the Moon was blurred and the image of craters was scattered.
There seems to be no contrail cloud because the light from the Moon is not cut off, however, there always occurs hot turbulence after an airplane.
Even if the contrail is invisible, the mirage due to its heat turbulence is visible.
...And I think it does not look like any meteor that I have ever seen.

Anyone have any idea what this plane might be? the lights are not blurred and seem to be half the size of the craft. Or does the ISS leave a contrail when using their booster rockets?
