Details:
The Northern Lights made a surprise appearance last night over the Reynolds Creek Fire that is burning in Glacier National Park, Montana. This is one of the largest photos I have ever taken and it shows a large portion of the horizon from almost West to looking toward Northeast. For scale notice The Big Dipper is just above the leading edge of the Northern Lights. As you can see the wildfire was still burning pretty good as night had just fallen. Most of the smoke had settled in the valley though creating an inversion. And at this point the Northern Lights were just starting to come out. They became much bigger later as well. That entire part of the Park has been evacuated and closed off to the public. Interesting to see such beauty and destruction in one scene all at once
