Details:
Mercury visits the Seven Sisters, or at least that how it would have looked to the ancient Greeks. Watching the changes in position night after night it is much easier to see how the mythology developed and fascinated people thousands of years ago. This photo on May 1st is the closest conjunction of the pair and a night where Mercury is well displayed in the fading twilight. This is a stack of 6 1 sec ISO 2500 photos taken with a Nikon D810 and Nikon F4 300 mm lens on an iOptron motor mount. The viewing conditions were a bit better than prior nights.
