Details:
Fireflies are out this year, later than normal in NY because it was a very cold and late-ending winter. I decided to go to a friend’s property to photograph them, and I was lucky enough to capture them with the Milkyway.
This image is a composite of shorter exposures for the fireflies, blended with a stack of Milkyway photos of longer exposure.
While the image itself was relatively easy to capture, editing was very difficult, and forced me to move more into Pixinsight for automated stacked with wide-field exposures that have lens distortion. The firefly exposures were blended together using Lighten blend more in Photoshop, and this was combined with a stacked sky shot. Final edits in Lightroom.
