Large radar echo near LA with no associated rain or clouds. Meteor smoke?

Details:
The echo enters the frame of a radar loop from San Diego as a smaller echo off Mexico that is expanding and maybe dissipating. The echo is moving quickly from southeast to northwest. High level clouds are moving in that pattern as well but the visible satellite image shows nothing. Airborne dust, or a volcanic eruption off Mexico don't seem to fit. Any other ideas?
